I wanted to write today about the role of enjoyment in strengthening your abundance flow using metaphysics. While we all desire to have enjoyment in our lives, enjoyment in the field of abundance is an area, where I have encountered lots of learnings and limiting beliefs in myself and in other people. Thoughts, such as, “generating income does require sacrifices” or that “it is only possible to generate income through hard work”, are very common and are example of such limiting beliefs. These beliefs are very often at subconscious level and as part of your inside are manifesting a reality in line with the belief.
Creating enjoyment
But what does enjoyment really involve? Two basic concepts: doing what you enjoy and enjoying what you do. The first one is quite clear; spending time in activities that you like, that you enjoy. Even if such activities are outside the area of where you generate your abundance (for example a hobby or a sport activity), by the law of resonance they do also strengthen your abundance flow. Obviously, enjoying what you do in your field of work does also a great job in strengthening your abundance.
The second concept requires some more explanation. Enjoying what you do involves doing your daily tasks (whatever they are) from a position of enjoyment. Some of you would wonder: how is that possible? What about boring and cumbersome tasks that you have to do? Well, it is possible to actively manage your emotions and choose consciously which emotions you put into a task or situation. Normally, we do not proceed in this way. Rather, if an emotion arises in a situation, we stay with such emotion whether pleasant or not. Managing your emotions actively means choosing consciously beforehand which emotion you want to feel while doing a task. Therefore, to generate enjoyment, pick up a positive emotion, the one that you associate the most with moments of enjoyment (for me it is joy) and stick with it while doing the task. As example, many people in jobs they did not enjoy (for example servants in past centuries) sang songs they liked and associated with positive emotions, while performing tasks they did not like. In this way, they created a positive emotional association that connected the task to enjoyment and gave them energy to execute them.
To go deeper in creating enjoyment in boring and cumbersome tasks, try asking yourself: why are they so? Boring and cumbersome are not universal attributes, but characteristics attached to something based on a particular point of view. What do you see in those tasks to attach them these characteristics? And more important, why do those aspects that you see in the tasks bother you to the point that you perceive them as negative? Whatever it is, it is giving you information about yourself and your perception of reality. In metaphysics, everything has a purpose -to learn or experience something-, so try also to identify what is the purpose of such perceptions. This will increase your consciousness level about yourself.
Finally, you can reframe all those activities from the angle of enjoyment. Think how you can change or alter such activities to increase your enjoyment while doing them. Plan your schedule and future activities considering the impact on your enjoyment, and in situations of crisis put your enjoyment, well-being and health above everything else.
The law of enjoyment
Enjoyment reconnects you with your inner self and by doing so reconnects you with your inner flow of abundance. The ultimate example of enjoyment in executing activities is playing. Human beings and mammals play. As children we played all the time. And through play, we learn, experiment and complete tasks.
If you play as children do, you do not care much about the outcome of a game. What it really matters to you is enjoying playing. You stay in the moment, you flow with the activity and by doing so you flow with reality. It is this flowing that reconnects you with your inner self and, by resonance, strengthens your connection with another flow; the flow of abundance.
In our daily life, we tend to operate differently; in a mode of attachment to the outcome of our activities. We often want a desired outcome of our efforts and tend to experience negative emotions, if such outcome does not materialize. Likewise, it is mainly attachment that lies behind the limiting beliefs regarding abundance and enjoyment. When we attach ourselves to an outcome, we put such outcome above ourselves, even to the point of giving it control over our emotions, giving up enjoyment and stopping flowing. The limiting beliefs then act as an inner thought process, that justifies us internally putting such outcome above ourselves. By the metaphysical principle, that what is inside you, drives your reality, the limiting belief, once created, manifests in your reality, reinforcing such belief.
Some of you may think while reading this, that if you are not attached to an outcome, or at least to a successful outcome, you would not complete any task. Well not really, children when playing, execute and complete complex tasks for their level of intelligence. Playing is also the easiest form of learning and evolving, the one that requires the least effort. And when we learn, we reach a higher consciousness level, that allow us to solve problems or to complete existing tasks in an easier way. Along these lines, I read recently a post in a social network from a fellow classmate from my MBA, who works as a Business Development Director at a technology company, where he was recognizing the importance to give employees “the permission to play and have fun” to foster creativity and innovation.
So, what is the way then to complete a task with detachment from its outcome? Well, first executing the task, as if you would be playing with it. Enjoying the task, taking a break when you do not enjoy it anymore and reconnecting with enjoyment before you continue with it. Perform the task based on how you feel you should best do it. And I want to stress to carry out the task based on how you feel about it -as if you were playing- instead of how you think you should do it. There is a fundamental difference between the two. Feeling comes from your heart, it is what easily flows from your inside when executing the task. On the other hand, how you think you should execute a task, it is most of the times influenced by attachment to a certain outcome (being for example a positive response, feedback or evaluation) or by external factors (for example looking for acceptance from others).
When we carry out tasks in this manner with detachment, we act from a position of enjoyment, we flow with the task and put our unique energy into it. This unique energy gets then embedded into the task and attaches a high value to it, which by resonance, attracts abundance.
Finally, spending time in activities that you enjoy gives you energy. This is even more the case, if such activity involves some type of service to others. In my case, I always feel energized and with much more energy after a coaching session, despite the energy I invest in the session.
Enjoyment in organizations
The principles of strengthening an abundance flow through enjoyment can also be applied to organizations and teams to strengthen the organization’s abundance flow. Ask yourself: are your team members enjoying what they are doing? If not, ask what you can do to increase their enjoyment. Perhaps, tasks can be redesigned or reallocated, or the organization culture can be steered to foster higher enjoyment. In any case, an environment which promotes enjoyment will resonate more with abundance.
